Photography; the art of the camera

So I may be going a bit overboard with the millions of posts today, but I'm just really in a writing mood. So, brace yourselves for yet another post for 26/09/2011 :3
I was just messing around with my camera earlier when I realised how much I love to take photographs. Whether they be of natural surroundings or material objects, I just adore capturing the perfect shots. I was also feeling rather bored so thought I'd write another post. But couldn't decide what to write about. So ima just post a few of my favourite photos I took of some random crap in my bedroom. Enjoy...!

My new love...

OhMyJesusChrist...I am in love, with a magazine.
Okay so those of you have not already been creeped out by that opening sentence and are still sticking around to hear about my new lust, you may possibly have heard of Company's seasonal look book; Company High Street Edit. If not, then feast your eyes on this...

Beautiful right?! Packed with trends, interviews and theme boards filled with fashion, this magazine is my new must. Daisy Lowe being the main interest in this seasons issue, and even including vouchers for great stores, has just made it all the more better. If you haven't already, you really MUST pick it up before it sells out! Trust me, you wont regret it...

I hate mondays...

...almost as much as I hate visible foundation lines, or liquorice; which to be perfectly honest, is quite a bit.
So if anyone else is feeling as much hatred for today as I am, I have decided to post a cute photo which I took; just to cheer up all those grumpy old souls out there (a.k.a. me) and add a touch of  glamour to your Monday's ;D
Oh come on, a cute angel ring on a cute lip colour? Who could resist?!

Long time no see!

So I've been missing a while D: One word...migraines.
After a week or so of agonizing pain and sleepless nights, I am finally better and ready to blog to my hearts content!
So for anyone out there who is even slightly intrigued as to what I have been up to recently (well, apart from being bed ridden- watching re-runs of The Hills and Pretty Little Liars for a good week or so...), I fortunately was well enough to go on a good old seasonal shopping spree with one of my best friends- Saskia :)
I made a few small purchases but there was one item I found, tried on, and fell in love with...
-Please excuse the awful hair and changing room quality- but I just had to share this skirt with the world!! A long, raspberry/ burgundy coloured, chiffon maxi skirt- need I say more? A perfect addition to the A-W 2011 wardrobe; this is top of my christmas list! Dear santa...;D

Vintage Must!!

Hey :)
So its been a little while (well, 4 days if anyone's counting) since I posted. I've been extremely busy with Textiles and Media coursework D: But no worries...I'm now back on board!!
I was looking through my jewellery collection the other day, when I realised a current trend in which I was lacking on... owl jewellery!
Strange, cute, sweet or just plain stupid; what do you think of the latest fad? I personally think it's a unique and affective way of expressing your personality (and love of owls ;D) through vintage fashion.

With my favourite being owl rings, I'm frantically on the look out for some. New Look, H&M, Accessorize or Topshop, I just cant seem to find one to suit my personality.
If anyone knows any great shops (available in the UK or a site that ships internationally) which sells vintage owl rings, please let me know!!

Fashion Lust!!

Hey :)
So I was doing a little online fashion browsing on my favourite High Street shops, when I noticed 'New Look' had a new Winter 2011 collection. Being my usual A/W obsessed self, I decided to check it out. Jackets, tassel bags and aviator boots galore! I scanned through the pages frantically searching for a key piece to part with my money for. Everything was stylish and nice to look at, but nothing really screamed my name. Well until I noticed this dress;
As soon as I saw it, I wanted it :) Available in red, biscuit (yummy colour right?!) and black; this dress just screams buy me! Its amazingly affordable price (24.99) doesn't help the naughty urge to buy it! Thank-youuu 'New Look' for producing such a wonderful garment ;D I just think it would look perfect under a large, patterned sweater; Bring on winter time girlies!!

Product Review- L'oreal Paris, Casting Creme Gloss

Hey :)
As some may know, I am a total hair dye addict, and love to try out new and unique hair colours (semi permanent though! Dont want to damage my hair too much...). So, after I got my hair cut, I decided to try out a new shade. I did want to try a plum purple, but finally settled on 'Berry Red' by L'oreal Paris, Casting Creme Gloss (no. 565).
I was quite pleased with the results as it gave me a deep Autumn-y shade.
Voila;

BEFORE

AFTER

I personally like it, and think that it made a lot of difference! I have used this brand before as it is straightforward to use and leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth.
The price I think is reasonable (£6.49) as it  lasts a long time and gives a pretty shine to my hair.
I think that this product deserves 5/5 :) I definately recommend it to anyone whos looking for an affordable, easy and effective way of colouring your hair

STYLE YOUR CHINOS

Hey :)
After being submerged in a town recently filled with "indie" related fashion, I decided to create a post on the style. Over the course of a month or two, the popularity of Chino trousers have increased majorly. So, I decided to create a post on different ways to wear your chinos, and what to wear with them.
Enjoy...

The first outfit; I wore the chinos with a plain nude vest top, and a grey blazer. I think that the grey complements the brown coloured chinos very well, and will be great for the Autumn season.
For shoes, I think that darker brown brogues will be perfect for this unique, yet fashionable outfit :)

The second outfit; I chose a stylish, nude floaty top, with black zips on to add a more exciting touch. I think that the neutral tones suit eachother well. I think that small pumps with be great for this outfit.

The third outfit (sorry about the photo quality); I paired the chinos with a similar brown coloured sweater with black horizontal stripes. Even though it is a lot of the same colour, I think they go great together and will be appropriate for the colder Autumn days :) This outfit is my personal favourite.

The final outfit; Another neutral toned top- cream with a black paperclip pattern. I think this top is quirky and cute, and adds a playful touch to the "indie" garment :)

Hope you enjoyed taking a quick peak at what sort of garments I like to wear with chinos, and have fun experimenting with different styles!!

DIY; Newspaper Nails

Hey :)
So I was searching the net for some creative nail art inspiration and I came across a very popular trend. Newspaper style nail art is increasing madly through out the internet, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon and have a go;
As you can see, I painted my nails a turquoise colour, then printed the newspaper on top. I admit, it was a pretty poor attempt as the boldness and shading of font varies around the nail :L
It is a lot harder than it sounds!!

Try it yourself
  • Paint your nail a colour of your choice (personally I think the bolder and brighter, the better).
  • Dip your nail into an alcohol contained liquid (In my case I used mouthwash)
  • Place a small strip of newspaper on top of your nail, holding it completely still for around 30 seconds.
  • Gently peel the strip of newspaper from your nail.
  • Coat your nail in a fine layer of clear nail varnish to add extra protection and to give a pretty shine.
  • Repeat for every single nail, and Voila!
Good luck, and get creative!!
